python 2.3.3-1 package

good morning,

i got a problem while using the python 2.3.3-1 package being included in the
standard cygwin mirrors, being installed by setup.exe...
It seems to be linked with libdb3.1 (3.1.17).
Now it is impossible to do something like python -c "from bsddb import
dbobj", since it fails an internal check in bsddb for libdb >= 3.2.0.
Pybsddb list recommends libdb 4.1.25.
Is there a way using the existing python package together with the shipped
libdb4.1?
Do I need to compile my own python?
Shouldn't one expect the official python package to be an up-to-date libdb
linked against, or are there reasons for not doing so?

Thanks,

Arno
