I tried ssh, telnet, exim (client + server), all OK, but
cvs update hangs after sending the files

 -> Sending file `window.cc' to server < hangs here
cvs [update aborted]: received interrupt signal
 -> Lock_Cleanup()

  164 30862751 [main] cvs 579873 sig_dispatch_pending: exit_state 0, cur
thread id 0xFFF7209F, sigtid 0xFFF73743, sigq.start.next 0x0
  154 30862905 [main] cvs 579873 readv: readv (4, 0x8EEC90, 1) blocking,
sigcatchers 6
  170 30863075 [main] cvs 579873 readv: no need to call ready_for_read

Is it just here?
