sh.exe 'cd' doesn't understand '//<drive>/path' notation?

Don't know, but works here:

Z:\mh>sh
MIKE-[/home/mh]_$cd //c/tmp
MIKE-[//c/tmp]_$
MIKE-[//c/tmp]_$cd //c/temp
MIKE-[//c/temp]_$
