I've attached a Perl script that converts long file names to short file
names. Hope that some else finds this useful.
milhouse% perl shorten.pl '/cygdrive/c/Program Files/Microsoft Visual \
Studio/VIntDev98/ScriptLibrary/RECORDSET.HTM'
