I agree, 20001221 worked wheras 2.03p1 didn't (by the way ssh -V now
gives 2.03p2 as version number...)

I note that in my case i'm behind a masquerading linux router, and i
guess that your Netgear thing does something like that too so this may
be related

I agree too with the other post about DISPLAY=:0 is not enough but
localhost:0 works.
