Correctamente, but don't grab it and copy it to /etc. Cygwin&Cie.
are using the one in the windows directory through the winsock32
calls. If you want a link in /etc (I'm doing that at home for
easier access) start the following script:

#!/bin/sh
cd /etc
rm -f services
_sys="`uname -a`"
_nt=`expr "$_sys" : "CYGWIN_NT"`
if [ $_nt -gt 0 ]
then
  _wservices="${SYSTEMROOT}\\system32\\drivers\\etc\\services"
else
  _wservices="${WINDIR}\\SERVICES"
fi
_services=`cygpath -u "${_wservices}"`
ln -s ${_services}
