rsync is driving me nuts!

This is yet another plea for help with Cygwin's flaky rsync.
I am wanting to use rsync to copy users' "My Documents" directory to a file
server in preparation to be backed up to tape. As all of my users mount
their home dirs when they login and they are mapped to the h: drive this
SHOULD be doable by a simple local copy (daemonless). My problem is that
rsync hangs QUITE often - no less that 20% of the time. It appears that the
job has actually completed copying changed data, but the process never
exits. Contrary to what I've seen posted, I am experiencing this when both
large and small amounts of data are being transferred.
Does anyone have any ideas? Other than using a commercial app? ;-)
