shared libstdc++?

Maybe its a silly question, maybe no.
20' of searching Google and cygwin ML's search seems enough to me 0=)

As part of my learning of autotools&friends I'm trying to create a shared library for a university project.

But, similiarly to message http://sources.redhat.com/ml/cygwin/2002-10/msg01815.html I get the problem that "it needs a shared libstdc++ in order to create a shaerd library that import libstdc++ functions".

Is that true?
What can I do about it?
Just add "--disable-shared" and be happy? ^_^
