[ANNOUNCEMENT] Updated: gdbm-1.8.0-5 / NEW: libgdbm-1.8.0-5, libgdbm-devel-1.8.0-5

The gdbm package has been updated to version 1.8.0-5. It is based on
the official GNU Database Manager distribution from the FSF,
gdbm-1.8.0.tar.gz. gdbm is a prerequisite for the cvs package.

The binaries are the *exact* *same* ones from 1.8.0-4. However, the
purpose of this release is to split the gdbm package into multiple
subpacakges, so that the --real-- new release (1.8.3) can coexist. In
1.8.3, the DLL is now 'cyggdbm-3.dll' because its API is different than
in our current cyggdbm.dll. 1.8.3 is ready, but I'll wait a week or two
before releasing that one.

CHANGES: (vs. 1.8.0-4)
o Split the package up into gdbm (utilities), libgdbm-devel
(header files, link libraries, and library docs), and
      libgdbm (runtime lib).

INSTALLATION:

To update your installation, click on the "Install Cygwin now" link on
the http://sources.redhat.com/cygwin web page.	This downloads setup.exe
to your system.

Run setup and answer all of the questions. You must choose a
mirror, since direct downloads from 'cygwin.com' are no longer
allowed.

ftp://mirrors.rcn.net/pub/sourceware/cygwin/ (US)
ftp://linux.sarang.net/mirror/development/compiler/cygwin/ (Korea)
ftp://ftp.mirror.ac.uk/sites/sourceware.cygnus.com/pub/cygwin (UK)

The setup.exe program will figure out what needs to be updated on your
system and should install the gdbm package automatically. To install
this TEST version of gdbm you'll have to select the experimental radio
button in setup.

If you have questions or comments, please send them to the Cygwin
mailing list at: cygwin at sources dot redhat dot com . I would appreciate if you
would use this mailing list rather than emailing me directly. This
includes ideas and comments about the setup utility or Cygwin general.

If you want to make a point or ask a question the Cygwin mailing list is
the appropriate place.
