Sid,

I've been using LaTeX on Cygwin for quite a while now with no problems.
It could be a problem with your installation -- try reinstalling LaTeX.
Also, there are multiple versions of LaTeX available, which one do you
have?  You might want to provide more details about your problem, as
suggested in <http://cygwin.com/problems.html> -- at least the output of
"cygcheck -svr" (as an attachment), the exact error you're getting, and a
small testcase that exhibits the problem.
