This automatic news mail server (ver. 3.0.4d (Jul 15 2003))
relays news articles from USENET via ordinary E-mail.
All articles in USENET are separated into a number of hierarchyally
organized groups like alt.folklore.computers or comp.unix.questions.
You can obtain a list of groups using command
(note that all commands should appear in the body of your request):

	LIST
or
	LIST hierarchy

The second form is preferable (the first one generates a *really* long
output). Hierarchy is a partially specified name like comp.unix or talk.

In order to know, what groups have been created during some period of
time, you can use the following command:

	NEWGROUPS dd.mm[.yy] [- DD.MM[.YY]]

where you specify the first and last date of that period. You could miss
the year (current year will be default) and the last date (this means
today's date).

In order to get subscribed to any particular group, use command:

	SUBSCRIBE group
or
	SUBSCRIBE group group...

WARNING Do not try to subscribe on a lot of groups from the very beginning!
	You can underestimate the volume of news' traffic.

To unsubscribe use command:

	UNSUBSCRIBE group...

To cancel this service completely (say if you're going to leave for
vacations and do not like to have your mailbox overflowed):

	UNSUBSCRIBE all

In order to check the current list of newsgroups you're subscribed
on use the command

	CHECK

To request some specific articles from the archieve (they're usually
saved for a week) use the following commands:

	GROUP group
	ARTICLE number
	...

The command GROUP selects a specific newsgroup to get articles from
and the command ARTICLE retrieves the specifyed article from the selected
group.

If you don't know the group and the number of the article, but
know it's Message-ID instead, you can use the following form of
the ARTICLE command (angle brackets are necessary):

	ARTICLE <Message-ID-of-the-article>

If you sometimes subscribed to any groups, news server periodically
sends you a list of new USENET articles with the commands to
retrieve new articles. This script contains GROUP and ARTICLE commands.
In order to get the articles you interested you ought to delete
unnecessary lines and send the rest back to news server.
This mode of operation is default and called "notify mode".

Sometimes it's preferable to get all articles from a group immediately
without confirmation. You can turn this mode on using the command

	FEED group...

instead of ordinary SUBSCRIBE. This mode of operation is called "feed mode".

WARNING Never use feed mode if you're not completely sure that you need
	*all* articles and your e-mail connection is stable and
	permanent. This mode can easily cause e-mail traffic jams
	making impossible to send or receive any electronic mail
	at your machine. It may casue breaking link to your
	machine by a net administrator, thus be careful.

If you want to set a limit for size of the articles, sending to you in the
feed mode, use the following command:

	RFEED [size] group ...

Parameter 'size' is in bytes or in kilobytes (e.g., 10K),
by default it equals to 20000 bytes.
The rest articles will be added to the list of new USENET articles.

WARNING: don't use user name "uucp" or "news" to receive news -
	 server ignores this names.

In order to submit an article you should send the article with the
header field "Newsgroups:" containing the comma-separated list of
newsgroups (all newsgroups should be valid) to the address news@demos.su.
The maximum number of groups you can send article to is 10.

The default distribution of the message is the whole world, so you should
think twice before sending your article. Remember it will be read by
thousands or millions of readers around the world, so your message
should not be offensive, should not violate copyright laws. Never write
things already written by somebody. It's better to restrict area of
distribution in a field as small as possible. You can do it using
the header field "Distribution:". Valid distributions are:

	world, eunet, su, russia, moscow

It'd be better if you would read "How to Use USENET Effectively" by
Matt Bishop *before* submitting articles to USENET. Russian translation
by Polina Antonova is available as a part of freely distributed RELCOM
documentation.
