But in your main program, you don't include math.h, so
the function prototype is not known at compile time,
which is 'bad programming practice'. I know, it is the
same for malloc, exp, free and all those seem to work
alright any way... What I can say is that your program
works perfectly giving 256.O as a result if you just
care to include <math.h>.
