I'm struggling to see what this conversation has to do with cygwin.

It's really very simple. I though there was a bulk rename program in cygwin. Then I realized I was thinking of something else, so I wanted the thread to end so nobody would waste their time trying to help out. Very logical, and I think even thoughtful.

Nothing to struggle over.

We do have a mailing list for this kind of random query.
