/usr/lib/perl5/5.8/cygwin
/usr/lib/perl5/5.8
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8/cygwin
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8/cygwin
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8
/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8
..

BTW - why are some of the include dir's included twice?

Yes, interesting. I didn't noticed it, I'll try to figure out
what the reason is unless you can tell me.

It should be: /usr/lib/perl5/5.8/cygwin /usr/lib/perl5/5.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8/cygwin /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.8 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8/cygwin /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.8 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl

Anyway, this is not related to the build problems of the OP.
