Revised: ls: reading directory .: No such file or directory

Sorry for the last post -

I have an issue when trying to run ls in the root of my C: drive that's cropped up recently, not sure what's happened -

mriding@l-mrider-i ~ $ pwd /cygdrive/m

mriding@l-mrider-i ~
$ ls
PUTTY.RND  WINDOWS  sqlcap

mriding@l-mrider-i ~
$ cd c:

mriding@l-mrider-i /cygdrive/c
$ ls
ls: reading directory .: No such file or directory

mriding@l-mrider-i /cygdrive/c
$ cd "Documents and Settings"

mriding@l-mrider-i /cygdrive/c/Documents and Settings
$ ls
All Users LocalService altiris-test iBAHN msampson
Default User  NetworkService  altiris-test3  mriding

I've uninstalled and reinstalled cygwin, to no avail. Does anyone know
why my cygwin install is exhibiting this behavior and how to fix it?

thx :)
monte
