'cygcheck -s -v -r" hangs on Vista Ultimate 64-bit

cygwin:

I have an Athlon 64 x2 machine with fresh installs of Vista Ultimate
64-bit and Cygwin. I am having problems with Exim. When I try to run
cygcheck per:

    http://cygwin.com/problems.html

Bash hangs. Running cygcheck with just the '-s' or '-s -v' options does
work:

    20080601-113708 Administrator@a64x23800p ~
    $ cygcheck -s > cygcheck-s.out

    20080601-113731 Administrator@a64x23800p ~
    $ cygcheck -s -v > cygcheck-s-v.out

    20080601-113801 Administrator@a64x23800p ~
    $ cygcheck -s -v -r > cygcheck-s-v-r.out

The hard drive gets very busy and one core goes to 100%. Ctrl+C doesn't
kill it. Closing the Bash window doesn't kill it. Task Manager doesn't
see the process. Kill doesn't kill it:

    20080601-114713 Administrator@a64x23800p ~
    $ ps -a | grep cygcheck
         3640    3728    3640       3944    0  500 11:38:48
/usr/bin/cygcheck

    20080601-114726 Administrator@a64x23800p ~
    $ kill -s 9 3640
    -bash: kill: (3640) - Resource temporarily unavailable

Restarting Vista seems to be the only cure, but shutdown takes many
minutes.

Any suggestions?

David
