  The general rule is that ./configure will find anything that's in a
directory in your $PATH variable.  Make sure any directories with EXEs or DLLs
from the mono package are added.

  Note that the binary you got from there is a native windows binary, and it
will probably only understand windows style filenames.  Configure may well try
and give it posix style filenames and it might get confused.  If you run into
that sort of problem, you might end up having to build and install a
cygwin-native version of mono (which you can do using the windows native
version to get started and build it with).  I found a page at
