The lyx window opens and, as far as I can tell, everything works.
Can anybody please tell me the likely cause of the error messages and
whether/ how I can mend my system?
I don't have 'lyx' installed so I can't be specific but I would say
'cygcheck lyx' and then look for complaints of missing dependencies
and install those packages.
