Extremely slow performance from bash

Launching bash.exe, Launching "vim" from bash, executing "ls" from bash, etc. etc.

This problem seemed to appear with a recent cygwin update. I have already removed "//" elements from my PATH variable.

Problem vanishes when I set $HOME to a local disk. Problem occurs when $HOME points to a netapp remote volume. This observation might not be relevant, since changing $HOME changes the selection of "dot" files from "non-existent" to "ten years of accumulated preferences."

cygcheck.out is attached. Any suggestions?
