Source in Git

The sources for the Cygwin DLL, Cygwin-specific utilities, Cygwin packaging and this website are all stored under under version control in git repositories. If you don't know what Git is, visit the Git home page. Coincidentally enough, Git comes with the Cygwin distribution.

Read-only web access

You can view all the git repositories online.

Anonymous read-only access

Check out the sources for a project like this:

  git clone git://cygwin.com/git/<project>

and, for developers with write access

If you have commit rights to a repository (you will know if you do), also configure pushing:

gitolite

Access to all cygwin-packages/ repositories and the pkg-maint repository is controlled via gitolite. Use the username cygwin and the ssh key provided on the cygwin-apps list.

  git remote set-url origin --push ssh://cygwin@cygwin.com/git/<project>

sourceware login

For historical reasons, access to some repositories is not currently available via gitolite and requires a sourceware login with appropriate group membership. These repositories are: cygwin-htdocs, all cygwin-apps/ repositories, all cygwin-rpm-copr/ repositories, and the newlib-cygwin repository itself.

  git remote set-url origin --push ssh://username@cygwin.com/git/<project>

Note that the cygwin-htdocs repository only contains the framework of the website. The User's Guide, API and FAQ are all maintained as part of the newlib-cygwin source Git repository.

Note that pushes to the main branch of the newlib-cygwin repository automatically trigger the generation of a test package built from that commit. That behaviour can be disabled by adding --push-option=norel to the push command.
